It all depends on what your definition of “lobbying” is, when it comes to Newt Gingrich’s post-speaker activities on the Hill

In Monday’s debate, Mitt Romney charged Gingrich with “influence-peddling.” But Gingrich insists that he was merely working as a historian when he collected $1.6 million from Freddie Mac over a six-year period. Which, in some version of reality, could be true. Broadly speaking, a historian who is hired to dig ditches is still a historian.

But, strictly speaking, Gingrich did sign a contract with the mortgage giant at a time when Republicans wanted to end its special status as a government-backed private entity. And he was a cheerleader for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, according to political action committee donors who heard him speak in 2007, before he became a critic insisting that others who backed the mortgage companies should be jailed.

Under pressure from the Romney campaign, Gingrich’s consulting firm released a copy of one year of its contract with Freddie Mac, which leaves another five years unaccounted for and only shows earnings of $300,000. That leaves a significant time gap and a chunk of change, but the operative question is whether Gingrich acted as a lobbyist for the company. The question is crucial to the issue of character because the American people and congressmen deserve to know whether someone is being paid to advocate for a position.

On camera, a Romney “supporter” at an early voting location says he was paid by the South Florida Romney campaign effort to wear a shirt and maintain a presence. Having a handful of Romney supporters at the site likely helped make the impression on potential voters who lack the capacity to think for themselves that they, because of Romney’s large “support”, they should vote for him. Makes perfect sense…

Like Obama, Mitt Romney is a wind-up doll for Wall Street and the bankers. There is virtually no difference between them despite all the fetid air from the GOP propaganda machine.

photoRomney’s Bain Capital owns the “conservative” propaganda machine, Clear Channel.

This is revealed by a quick look at Romney’s top contributors. An Open Secrets page on top Romney contributors reads like a Who’s Who of Wall Street and the financial cartel. The top contributor is Goldman Sachs, followed by Credit Suisse Group, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, UBS, Citigroup, Wells Fargo and Barclays – major players in the Wall Street and City of London bankster constellation.

Bain Capital is also on the list. It is a “financial services” and investment firm co-founded by Romney. Bain owns the establishment media propaganda conglomerate Clear Channel, which explains why “conservative” talk show hosts like Limbaugh, Hannity and Levin are supporting Romney, especially with the strong showing of Ron Paul in the primaries. Both Savage (real name Weiner) and Levin have gone so far as to call Paul a threat to the country.

THE WHOLE TIME BOTH HAVE VOTED THE SAME AND MADE TALKED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES. VOTING FOR EITHER IS JUST 4 MORE YEARS OF THE SAME !!!

Aspiring dictator-in-chief Mitt Romney says people the government accuses of terrorism don’t deserve any rights, he assures the crowd he won’t abuse the power to detain US citizens indefinitely because of his “sufficient character.”

According to the Washington Post, Jon Huntsman(CFR MEMBER) will drop his presidential bid today and back Mitt Romney (Bain Capital/Clear Channel).

Former Utah governor Jon Huntsman has decided to end his presidential candidacy and will formally exit the race on Monday, according to two sources briefed on his thinking. He is expected to endorse former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

Huntsman had pledged to soldier on after a disappointing third place finish last week in New Hampshire’s primary. He insisted his showing amounted to a “ticket to ride” to South Carolina.

But, political reality seems to have hit Huntsman and his team over the last few days as polling in the Palmetto State, which will hold its primary on Jan. 21, showed him in single digits.

This appears to have been completely staged. To not only show Romney is a “regular guy” and a “man of god”. A 55-year-old Ruth Williams is unemployed and has a child with medical problems. She claims God told her to follow Romney.

SUMTER, S.C. — Amid shaking hands and signing campaign posters, Mitt Romney did something he has never done before on the ropeline: He took out his wallet and handed a wad of cash to a woman waiting to shake his hand.

The woman, 55-year-old Ruth Williams, says she has been following the Romney campaign since he arrived in the state on Jan. 11, when she said she received a message from God to track him down.

“I was on the highway praying and said, ‘God just show me how to get [my] lights on,’ and I pulled up to a stop sign and his bus was there,” said Williams, who has been unemployed since last October. “And then God said, ‘Follow the bus,’ and I followed the bus to the airport.”

According to Williams, she followed the campaign bus to the Columbia airport on Wednesday, the same day Romney was arriving from New Hampshire. When Romney wasn’t on the bus, aides told her to go to the rally scheduled in Columbia later that day. When she showed up, Romney found her to say hello and pulled over South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to say “hello” too.

“He was kind to me and he made Gov. Haley come see about me,” Williams said. “He stopped doing everything.”

Exposure of Romney’s big government tendencies precipitates slide in poll numbers

After being largely discounted out of a top three finish in South Carolina, Ron Paul is now closing fast on third placed Rick Santorum, as a new poll out of the state shows Mitt Romney’s lead slipping.

Unlike New Hampshire, where Paul finished second after taking advantage of strong support from Independents, South Carolina is dominated by social conservatives who would be more inclined to vote for someone like Santorum (although Mitt Romney’s frontrunner status defies rational explanation given his true stance on abortion).

That’s what makes Paul’s rise to just one per cent behind Santorum in a new Insider Advantage poll all the more impressive.

The poll illustrates how Mitt Romney’s once commanding lead is dissolving. Polling at 37 per cent just a week ago, Romney now stands at 23 per cent, with Gingrich in second at 21 per cent and Santorum third with 14 per cent. Ron Paul is in fourth with 13 per cent.

A photo of a young Mitt Romney was posted on the Daily Mail site earlier this week. It shows Romney in 1966 protesting against students who had taken over Stanford University in opposition to the Vietnam War and a test to decide who at the college was draft material.
.

Romney and his fellow preppy counter-demonstrators supported Lyndon Johnson and the escalation of the war in Southeast Asia. In the photo, Mitt is at the far right.

Although Romney supported drafting the children of less influential families – Mitt’s dad was the governor of Michigan – he enjoyed the draft exempt status of a Mormon missionary. He went to the south of France as a missionary instead of South Vietnam.

Like Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and recent drop-out Michele Bachmann, Romney believes Iran is a serious threat and military action against the Islamic nation is not “off the table.”

Romney has stated that the Iranian leadership is the greatest immediate threat to the world since the fall of the Soviet Union, and before that, Nazi Germany.

Like his fellow candidates – with the notable exception of Ron Paul – Mitt Romney is drinking the neocon kool aid. If elected he will give a green light to attack Iran.
