In an interview with CBS 60 Minutes‘ Scott Pelley, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta revealed more about the secret process the Obama administration uses to kill American citizens suspected of terrorism without trial. According to Panetta, the president himself approves the decision based on recommendations from top national security officials.

“[The] President of the United States obviously reviews these cases, reviews the legal justification, and in the end says, go or no go,” Panetta said.

“So it’s the requirement of the administration under the current legal understanding that the president has to make that declaration, not you?” Pelley asked. Panetta replied, “That is correct.”

The process by which national security officials determine whether or not American citizens suspected of terrorism can be killed remains opaque. The administration has leaked information about certain targets, but it has never released the legal justification for doing so, nor has it explained the system by which members of the National Security Council reportedly decide to put an American citizen on a so-called “kill list.” In October, Reuters’ Mark Hosenball wrote that the president doesn’t necessarily explicitly approve strikes—instead, the attacks go forward unless the president objects.

Decision in Georgia case expected soon, but ballot concerns going viral

An administrative law judge in Georgia could decide as early as this week whether voters in the state convinced him Barack Obama’s name should be removed from the 2012 presidential ballot because he is not qualified to hold the office.

But win, lose or draw, the fight isn’t going to be over, as other cases are erupting across the nation, with challenges being raised anew even in Obama’s own adopted political network in Illinois.

The Georgia hearing was before Judge Michael Malihi, and while none of the lawyers who appeared in the proceedings was willing to predict what the decision will be, several did confirm that Malihi had considered simply granting them a default victory, because Obama and his lawyers expressly stated they would not participate in a hearing to provide evidence that he is qualified to be on the ballot.

A default presumably would have meant a recommendation from the judge that Obama’s name be stricken from the ballot, a decision which would head for review immediately by Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp.

Unbeknownst to the press, President Obama met Friday evening with former president George H.W. Bush and his son, former Florida governor Jeb Bush, in the Oval Office.

White House officials did not list the meeting on the president’s schedule but released a photo on Flickr. According to the photo’s time stamp, the meeting occurred shortly after 5 p.m., about the time the president returned to the White House from a fundraiser.

When asked what the men discussed and why it wasn’t on the schedule, the White House released a statement saying, “The three men enjoyed a personal visit in the Oval Office – as they have done on previous occasions when President Bush is Washington.”

The Bushes are in town to attend the exclusive Alfalfa Club dinner Saturday, an annual get-together for Washington power brokers that Obama also is scheduled to attend, according to the Associated Press.

The meeting came at an interesting time politically, just one day after Obama, in an interview with ABC News, blamed predecessor George W. Bush for policies that brought on the greatest recession since the Great Depression. He also blamed him for initiating the expansion of food stamp rolls.

Jeb Bush has also played a critical role in the GOP presidential primary contest in Florida — primarily by saying he wouldn’t play a role. His endorsement would have been key in the race, currently neck and neck between Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, but Jeb Bush said last week that he would remain neutral.

Obamacare’s contraception crusade plays his ‘Catholic allies for fools’, but it’s really designed to show Federal govt’s supremacy over religious groups – Constitutionally though, it’s a slippery slope

In politics, the timing is often the message. On Jan. 20 — three days before the annual March for Life — the Obama administration announced its final decision that Catholic universities, hospitals and charities will be compelled to pay for health insurance that covers sterilization, contraceptives and abortifacients.

Preparing for the march, Catholic students gathered for Mass at Verizon Center. The faithful held vigil at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Knights of Columbus and bishops arrived to trudge in the cold along the Mall. All came to Washington in time for their mocking.

Catholic leaders are still trying to process the implications of this ambush. The president had every opportunity to back down from confrontation. In the recent Hosanna-Tabor ruling, a unanimous Supreme Court reaffirmed a broad religious autonomy right rooted in the Constitution. Obama could have taken the decision as justification for retreat.

Partial results from the poll, released Wednesday, found voters feeling more positively about the economy and of Mr. Obama‘s handling of it. Some 30% believed the country was headed in the right direction, up eight percentage points from a month ago. Some 60% said the country was on the wrong track, down from 69% in December and from 74% in October. The question is considered an important measure of voters’ mood. − Wall Street Journal

Dominant Social Theme: President Barack Obama is doing better and better based on the strength of the economy.

Free-Market Analysis: It is really incredible to watch this meme flourish. We believe that the economic “good news” about the US economy, as mentioned in this Wall Street Journal article excerpted above is aimed primarily at furthering the hopes of President Barack Obama for a second term.

The US according to some estimates has over-promised its citizens benefits and other kinds of compensation in excess of US$200 trillion. This is not just a staggering amount, it is an insupportable one.

Additionally, the dollar reserve system itself that the US depends on is dying in our view. The Fed alone has had to release something like a staggering US15-$30 TRILLION in loans and other forms of funding to prop up the dollar and its foundering banking system around the world.

OBAMA IN JAIL

GEORGIA — A packed courtroom today minus the POTUS (President of the United States) and his attorney, as Obama was a “no show” grabbing a FTA (Failure to Appear) in the case suggesting Obama himself is not a natural born citizen.

Although this comes as no surprise to well researched individuals, it is startling that the almighty dictator can literally skip out on court.

Those who filed suit are claiming that Obama should be kept off the primary ballot in Georgia for presidential reelection in 2012.

The Obama Commission says these claims have no merit.

One witness testified that Obama’s father is not a U.S. citizen but a citizen of Africa, and others testified to the fact that Obama is using a fraudulent social security number (most likely issued by the CIA) as previously covered by The Intel Hub.
