Turmeric and curcumin have been highlighted as powerful anti-cancer substances in the past, but research has now shed even more light on the amazing ability of both turmeric and curcumin to actually block cancer growth.

This is due to the unique ability of a main component in turmeric that is actually able to block an enzyme that promotes the spread of head and neck cancer.

Researchers at UCLA found that curcumin — the primary component in turmeric also responsible for its color — exhibited these cancer-blocking properties during a study involving 21 participants suffering from head and neck cancers. The subjects were given two chewable curcumin tablets containing 1,000 miligrams of the substance each. After administering the chewable curcumin tablets, an independent lab in Maryland was in charge of evaluating the results.

What the lab found was that the enzymes in the patients’ mouths responsible for promoting cancer spread and growth were inhibited by the curcumin supplementation. As a result, the curcumin intake halted the spread of the malignant cells. Curcumin has previously been found to reduce tumors by 81% in similarly shocking research, which also gives credence to the natural anti-cancer benefits of turmeric and curcumin intake.

If you run up and down the stairs ten times you feel invigorated. Now if you run up and down the stairs one thousand times you are exhausted and totally drained, so eustress is health boosting whereas distress is health depleting.

This study also found that shorter (7 days) exposure to aluminium results in diminished cell numbers owing to cellular senescence.

(NaturalNews) The first-ever lawsuit hinging on the link between DES and breast cancer may soon come to court in Boston. Fifty-three DES daughters are attempting to sue 14 drug manufacturers for the health consequences of one of the pharmaceutical industry’s more notorious products.

The synthetic estrogen DES or diethylstilbestrol (day-eth-uhl-stil-bes’-trawl) was prescribed to millions of pregnant women from 1938 until 1971 to prevent miscarriages. In 1971, the FDA told doctors to stop prescribing the drug for pregnant women after a study indicated the pharmaceutical hormone broke through the uterine barrier and had an impact on children later in life. DES taken during pregnancy is linked to DES daughters developing a rare vaginal cancer in their teens and 20s. Since the early 70s, thousands of lawsuits have been filed regarding links between DES and cancers, as well as infertility problems. Many of those cases were settled out of court.

The dangers of processed sugar consumption are documented, as are its carcinogenic effects. But what about sugar free products? It turns out that not only can these products contain a dangerous artificial sweetener called aspartame, but cancer cells actually feed on sugar free products just as much as they do those loaded with sugar.

In a study conducted by UCLA, pancreatic cancer cells were found to multiply and grow more rapidly when fueled by fructose, as opposed to glucose or sucrose. More recently however, it has been found that even staying sugar free can have similar implications. In a collaborative study, it was found that in the absence of a usable sugar source, cancer cells will instead use glutamine — an amino acid — to survive and spread.

Of course fructose consumption (sugar-loaded products) are much more common within the American diet and elsewhere. Fructose is most commonly consumed from processed foods and soft drinks, in the form of mercury-loaded high fructose corn syrup. Along with its numerous health defects, perhaps the most concerning is the fact that this carcinogenic substance is highly addictive and is breeding a new form of ‘fructose alcoholism’.

New National Cancer Institute statistics show at least a 6% rise in thyroid cancer throughout the United States as mainstream doctors debate the cause.

As radiation disasters continue to mount, doctors around the United States are wondering why we have seen a sharp increase in thyroid cancer in recent years.

Even before the major meltdowns in Fukushima, lax EPA standards and NRC regulations have allowed nuclear power plants within the United States to release certain types of radioactive isotopes on a daily basis yet we are supposed to believe that doctors do not know why there has been an increase in thyroid cancer?

A recent USA Today article highlighted the increase:

National Cancer Institute statistics suggest that in recent years the number of cases of this often curable cancer has increased by about 6.5%. Over a decade, that has added up to make thyroid cancer the fastest-increasing cancer, says Tod Huntley, an otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon with the Center for Ear, Nose, Throat and Allergy in Indianapolis.

“Ten years ago, if I saw four new thyroid cancer patients a year, it would have been a lot,” says G. Irene Minor, a radiation oncologist with Indiana University Health Central Indiana Cancer Center. “Now sometimes I see that many in a month, and I have seen three in a week.”

As officials continue to ignore the dangers posed by the many nuclear power plants in America cancer numbers will continue to rise and nuclear apologists will continue to claim that their is no connection to the deadly radiation they release and the rise in certain types of cancer rates.

Eating two slices of bacon or one sausage a day can increase a person’s risk of a deadly form of cancer by almost a fifth, according to a Swedish study.

New research by the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm found that eating 1.8 ounces (50 grams) of processed meat a day can increase the risk of pancreatic cancer by 19 percent.

For people consuming 3.5 ounces (100 grams) of processed meat, the increased risk jumps to 38 percent and 57 percent for those eating 5.3 ounces (150 grams) a day.

Experts cautioned that the overall risk of pancreatic cancer was relatively low.

Nevertheless, the disease is deadly. It is frequently diagnosed at an advanced stage and kills 80 percent of people in under a year. Only five percent of patients are still alive five years after the diagnosis.

The study, published in the British Journal of Cancer, is based on data from 11 studies—including 6,643 cases of pancreatic cancer.

“Findings from this meta-analysis indicate that processed meat consumption is positively associated with pancreatic cancer risk,” the authors said.

A chemical widely used as a preservative in cosmetics, food products and pharmaceuticals has been found in tissue samples from 40 women with breast cancer.

A number of studies since 1998 have raised concerns about the potential role of these parabens in breast cancer as they possess oestrogenic properties.

Oestrogen is known to play a central role in the development, growth and progression of breast cancer.

Parabens are a chemical compound found in everyday toiletry products including moisturisers, make-up, shaving foam, tanning lotions and toothpaste.
